Common strategy for university business schools in Finland

The Finnish university units that provide education in business administration have prepared a national strategy. Its aim is make business administration expertise available to the society and develop activities through more efficient collaboration.

Business administration expertise to support the public sector and growth entrepreneurship

The decision-making in the public and third sectors and the growth and innovation opportunities of businesses are important issues in terms of the future of our society. The strategy can help to harness business administration expertise better for such purposes.

”The growth of the service business and its connection to product-based business is a current trend, and business administration is the field of science that can help to create well-being in the society,” says Anssi Vanjoki, the chair of the strategy project.

The LUT School of Business is actively participating in the preparation of the strategy. According to the representatives of all of the business schools, especially the importance of research should be emphasized. The demand for business studies has traditionally been wide-ranging, which may be a threat to high-level research”, emphasizes Jaana Sandström, the dean of LUT School of Business.

New association

The key role in the implementation of the strategic targets is the new association called Business Schools Finland (BSF). BSF will start its operation in early 2011. It will supervise the interests of Finnish business schools at the national and international levels, conduct research and disseminate best practices.
