LUT School of Business' team of finance students has made it to the top three of the finals of the CFA Institute Global Investment Research Challenge. LUT’s team includes Atte Rissanen, Antto Alenius, Lasse Lemberg, Topias Kukkasniemi and Anssi Pakarinen. The other finalist come from the University of Tampere and the University of Vaasa.
The finals are part of the global investment analysis competition for university students, in which teams of three to five students write an equity research report on a publicly traded company. Each student team is mentored by an investment professional and has access to professional tools in the field.
The aim of the competition is to increase the interest and knowledge of future professionals in the investment industry. Global IRC is arranged for the second time in Finland. Last year, 425 university teams from around the world took part in the competition.
The CFA Institute will sponsor the winning team to represent Finland in the EMEA finals in Madrid on 3 March 2011, and possibly in the global finals in Omaha on 6-7 April 2011.
The top three teams in the Finnish finals get to present their analysis report to a panel of experts, which includes the following members:
Ari Korhonen, Managing Director, Aktia Invest
Mika Koskinen, Head of Trading and Capital Markets, SEB Merchant Banking
Matti Kuhakoski, CFA Head of Hedge Fund Investments, Pohjola Asset Management
Petri Kuusisto, Partner, Northern Star Partners
Timo Ritakallio, Deputy CEO, Investments, Ilmarinen
