The MIMM application process is competitive, the aim being to ensure the selection of the very best candidates. The estimated annual intake of new students is 25 at most.
The annual application period is January-February and studies start at the end of August. Applications must be submitted via the electronic application system provided by University Admissions Finland. Please note that all applicants, both international and Finnish, should apply through the same system.
Please note! Applications may be submitted to no more than two English Master’s programmes at Lappeenranta University of Technology.
Your Application Process Begins Online
Create a user account for University Admissions Finland at www.universityadmissions.fi. As soon as the application period begins, you can log into your account and continue the process by giving your personal information and selecting the degree programme that interests you. The information you give on the template will be compiled in PDF format, and this document will become your Application Form when you print it out.
The link to the University Admissions Finland online Application template (LUT template form) is accessible via the
LUT Admissions web pages. The template form is accessible only during the application period.

The online template is available in English and Finnish. Please note that you need to have a personal e-mail address to be able to use the application system. You may make changes to your online template only when it is in draft form. You may still make changes at the Preview stage. When you click the ‘Save information database’ button, your application will be submitted, and no further changes can be made.
To Complete Your Application
- Print out the Application Form. You may send it as a PDF document to your personal e-mail address and print it out from there. You must sign the printed document in order to make the application official.
- Collect all the required enclosures, as listed on the first page of the Application Form.
- Send the signed print-out and the enclosures to the University Admissions Finland mailing address. Please make sure you put your Application Form number on all of the documents. The number appears at the top right-hand corner of the form when you print it out.
Please make sure that your application and the enclosures reach University Admissions Finland by the application deadline. Late applications will not be processed.
When you have submitted the printed and signed Application Form and the required enclosures this stage of the application process is complete, and the information obtained from your educational documents will be added into the University Admissions database. Lappeenranta University of Technology uses the services of University Admissions Finland for the pre-processing of applications. Pre-processing includes acknowledging receipt of the application and requesting missing documents, as well as verifying the accuracy and authenticity of the applications.
