The courses offered are primarily directed at the students of humanistic subjects and social sciences, which also includes social and health studies. The educational programmes offered by the Institute aim to complement the course selection available in the region and cover any omissions.

Several courses are offered every year to the basic degree students of the Lappeenranta University of Technology.

The Institute has planned and organised doctoral programme seminars for the postgraduate students of the South Karelia University of Applied Sciences and participated in the planning of various Master’s programmes.

In addition to training, the Institute organizes several public lectures, lecture series, scientific seminars, and congresses on topical themes every year.
