Every year The South Karelian Insitute organizes together with regional and national a partners a studia generalia lecture series. The series addresses current regional subjects introduced by specialists. Other Institute's yearly lecture series are Hovin Henki (The Spirit of the Skinnarila Hovi -villa). In addition to the lecture series the South Karelian Insitute also organizes other individual one-off lectures and lecture series, when a topical matter needs to be addressed. The themes usually are derived from the Institute's projects. Recent topics have included the identity of South Karelia, and the Imatra-Svetogorsk twin city area from the citizens' point-of-view.
