The Lahti School of Innovation, one of the three regional units of Lappeenranta University of Technology, was established in 1996. It offers university-level education in the fields of industrial management and business economics.
The director of the Lahti School of Innovation is Professor Timo Pihkala and the vice-director is Professor Vesa Harmaakorpi. The secretary of the Unit is Ms. Raija Tonteri.
The Lahti School of Innovation’s premises are located at Saimaankatu 11, Lahti. In 2010, 27 staff members comprise 3 professors, 22 researchers and 2 members in administration. The turnover in 2009 was about €2,4m.
The Lahti School of Innovation is internationally known for its research and development activities. Last year it produced 55 publications, of which 7 were referred articles in scientific journals.
The practice-based innovation research is applied in different projects which are funded by bodies such as the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme, the European Regional Development Fund and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. LUT Lahti School of Innovation is also an active partner in the development activities of many companies and organizations in the Lahti Region.
The Lahti School of Innovation had 1364 students in 2009, when the number of study credits was 6117.
