FRESH started at 5 November 2009 and continues to 31 October 2012.
FRESH project involves 12 partner organizations from six EU member states and eight different regions. The coordinator of FRESH is Kainuun Etu Oy, other Finnish partners are the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme and Lappeenranta University of Technology. Other members come from Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom.
The purpose of FRESH project is to integrate an eco-innovation component into the regional innovation strategies of the eight partner regions, i.e. to give the partner regions the tools for dealing with economic competitiveness and environmental sustainability.
One of the main targets of Interreg IV C projects is to identify and to promote the dissemination of best practices in the different fields. This is one of the key elements also in FRESH project. As one of the four university partners of FRESH project LUT Lahti School of Innovation is responsible for collecting, reviewing and disseminating the best eco-innovation practices to the eight regions. The best practices are intended to further promote sustainable value creation in each region participating in the project.
