Päijät-Häme region - an aspiring global forerunner in practice-based innovation

Project period:                            1.1.2011–31.12.2013

The project is directed to companies, especially SMEs, as well as to public sector organizations, developing bodies and third sector actors.

The objective is to find fresh, elaborate ways of doing collaboration in practice-based innovation together with the regional companies and organizations. One part of the collaboration is to establish expert company networks to enhance the anchoring of new ways of action and thinking in the region.

The project has a practice-based focus; we wish to listen to the voice of the customer and to promote interaction. The tools that are developed will assist the companies and organizations to raise their competitiveness, to identify new ideas and implement their results in everyday work. The best results are reached when the methods are developed as a whole, with the emphasis on practice and the distribution of knowledge in regional networks. Communications and reputation management are an integral part of the project. The focus is on raising the competitive edge of SMEs as well as the public sector organizations by developing innovative tools for their use. We collaborate and cooperate with regional, national and international bodies.

LUT Lahti School of Innovation governs the project which forms an entity with the project conducted by University of Helsinki Centre of Continuing Education Palmenia in Lahti. Their project is called “Innovations emerging from the interface of action - forums for knowledge and expertise” (a free translation from Finnish).

The project is funded by European Regional Development Fund, the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme and the municipalities in Päijät-Häme region.
