Target groups
The Symposium is a forum for scholars, policy-makers and practitioners to discuss opportunities, challenges and solutions related to practice-based innovation in different countries.
Purpose and programme overview
Nowadays, innovations emerge more and more often in practical contexts. This Symposium focuses on the new wider innovation environment, in which central concepts include related variety, user-driven innovation, creativity, communication, knowledge creation, expertise, and interaction between practice and science. Practice-based innovation processes are triggered by problem-setting in a practical context and conducted in non-linear processes utilising scientific as well as practical knowledge production and creation in cross-disciplinary innovation networks.
The Symposium also contains a brief ‘innovation session’, in which various innovation tools developed and utilized in the Lahti region are introduced by means of a practical case. The speakers include international experts in various aspects of practice-based innovation as well as representatives of Finnish universities and other organizations. The language of the Symposium is English.
