The Open University of Lappeenranta University of Technology organises and offers Open University courses in technology and business for everyone. The quality and standard of Open University courses are equivalent to those of university courses / courses taught at LUT. Individual faculties are responsible for course contents and approving Open University teachers.
The Open University courses are also open to foreign nationals living in Finland. However, please note that receiving the right to study on a specific Open University course does not entitle the student to residency in Finland.
You can attend / participate regardless of your age, educational aims or previous schooling. You can start your studies at any time of the year. However, participating in Open University courses does not confer the right to complete an entire degree. Nonetheless, it is possible to apply for the status of a degree student at the university via the Open University channel after studying for a specific number of credits: 100 in business and 30 in technology.
Open University courses are mainly taught in Finnish. The fee for each course depends on the ECTS credits (EUR 10/credit).
