Who can use YTHS services?
- All undergraduate and graduate students who have paid the Student Union fee. You always have to show your LUT student card when you visit the YTHS. If you have not yet received the card, you need to provide proof that you have paid your Student Union fee.
Where are the health services located and when are they open?
- The YTHS are located in block 7 of the 1st and 2nd floors of the main university building. The entrance is on the 1st (ground) floor just below the glass corridor to the Student Union House. Please see the map.

How much does it cost?
- Appointments with a nurse or a doctor (general practitioner) are free of charge. Other fees vary from 4 to 22,50 euros.
- YTHS fees
Do I have to cancel an appointment if I can’t make it? How do I do this?
- If you are unable to keep an appointment, you must cancel it as soon as possible. This will allow us to give the appointment time to someone else, and save you having to pay for the appointment. If you do not cancel it, you have to pay the appointment fee and 25 euros.

What if I become ill when I am visiting another city?
- The YTHS is a nationwide organization with offices in 16 Finnish cities so you can use any of the YTHS health care centres.
What do I do when the YTHS is closed?
The South Karelia Central Hospital in Lappeenranta, (Etelä-Karjalan keskussairaala in Finnish) provides an emergency service during evenings, weekends and public holidays

- Friday from 15 to 8
- Saturday-Sunday from 8 to 8
- 24-hours service during public holidays

Do I need health insurance when I visit the emergency ward?
- Citizens of EU/EEA countries need to show their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or private insurance documents.
- Citizens of other countries need to show a comprehensive health insurance document.
How much does it cost?
- Citizens of EU/EEA countries
* On your first visit, you will have to pay an annual health centre fee of EUR 26. The payment covers the current year and will be charged only once.
* Each visit in the emergency costs EUR 26.
- Citizens of other countries will be charged approximately EUR 150 to EUR 1200 and will also have to pay the annual health centre fee of EUR 26.
