LUT does not use official ECTS grades as the university does not currently issue grades in accordance with the percentile groups corresponding to the ECTS grades A to E, but rather issues grades at the discretion of lecturers based on students' performance during the course.
Scale of LUT grades:
5 = Excellent
4 = Very good
3 = Good
2 = Satisfactory
1 = Sufficient
0 = Failed
H = Passed
Some courses, e.g. a number of language courses, are evaluated as a pass or fail.
Exchange students can transfer the credits they obtain at LUT to their own degree through the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 1 ECTS credit represents the workload of 26 hours including lectures, case studies, term paper, tutorials, assignments, homework and examination.
The exam results are posted on the bulletin board of the department that organised the course within four weeks of the exam. Final grades can also be viewed through WebOodi.
