External auditing

The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC) audits the quality assurance systems of all the Finnish higher education institutions by the end of the year 2011. The objective of the FINHEEC audit is to ensure that the higher education institution has a quality assurance system that supports continuous development of activity. The audit also ensures that a higher education institution operates in accordance with its objectives and the activity is internationally reliable.

The quality management system of the Lappeenranta University of Technology has been audited in the autumn 2008, the audit visit took place in November 2008. FINHEEC has decided, based on the proposal of the audit group, that Lappeenranta University of Technology meets the criteria set for quality assurance systems and the quality assurance of higher education institutions' basic mission. The audit is valid for six years.

Internal auditing

Internal auditing in also an important part of quality management of Lappeenranta University of Technology . Internal audits are carried out systematically in every two years. In university there are over 30 educated internal auditors. Results of all internal audits are reported, and the reports are published in intranet of university.
