D.Sc. (Tech.) Jaana Sandström (46) has been appointed as the dean of the School of Business at Lappeenranta University of Technology, D.Sc. (Tech.) Markku Tuominen (61) as the dean of the Faculty of Technology Management, and D.Sc. (Tech.) Esa Marttila (58) as the dean of the Faculty of Technology.
Rector Ilkka Pöyhönen of Lappeenranta University of Technology has appointed Jaana Sandström, Markku Tuominen and Esa Marttila as deans for a four-year term after hearing the faculty councils.
Jaana Sandström obtained her doctorate in the field of strategic management accounting from Lappeenranta University of Technology in 2001. She has worked for the university since 1991, starting her career as a lecturer in accounting. During the years 2000-2008 she was a professor in business administration at the School of Business. She was appointed as the vice-director of the Department of Business Administration in 2005 and a professor in strategic management accounting in 2008. In 2007, Sandström became the vice-dean of the School of Business. She has acted as the dean since 1 August 2009.
Esa Marttila obtained his doctorate in heat and fluid dynamics from Lappeenranta University of Technology in 1996. He has worked for the university since 1974, when he started his career as an assistant at the Laboratory of Mathematics. He was appointed as an assistant professor in heat and fluid dynamics in 1979. He has held a professorship in environmental technology since 1994 and was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Technology on 16 April 2008.
Markku Tuominen obtained his doctorate in the field of investment planning from Helsinki University of Technology in 1980. He was a professor of business administration at the Helsinki School of Economics during the years 1980-1985. He has worked for our university since 1986, when he started as a professor in industrial management. In 2007, Tuominen was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Technology Management.
