General About Cover Letters
With a good application you can stand out from the crowd of many other applicants and get yourself an invitation to a job interview. Job hunting is, in fact, all about marketing yourself and the skills you possess! You market your know-how and competence to the potential employers and make them see how your skills could meet with their requirements and needs.
It is good to draw up two different kind of drafts for cover letter – one for answering for a job advertisement and the other for sending the employer an open application. When having these two drafts ready, you won’t need to make a new cover letter from the beginning each and every time you apply to a company – just edit one according to the company that you are applying for: refer in a couple of sentences for example, to the company and/or its products or tell them about why you are interested especially in their company. It is very flattering to them to notice that you actually have been thinking about their company when applying for them!
Always remember that a cover letter should never exceed one page of A4 – and never forget to send your CV together with your cover letter!
