Renewals in examination regulations

Renewals in examination regulations from the beginning of the academic year 2010-2011:

Examinations directly after the course

Next academic year, three separate dates will be set for each exam, as before. Two of the exams will be organised soon after the lectures have ended, and the third one will be held later.  An exception are fourth period courses, for which only one examination date is set for the spring semester, and the rest will be set for the following autumn.
If two of the exams for a course are held within a four-week period, the teacher may grade all of the exams at once. In such cases, the one-month period for grading exams starts from the latter exam.

  • Gives students more possibilities to take the final exam soon after the course, with the lectures still fresh in mind.

Limitations to retakes

Students may choose any two of the exam dates available. In other words, students may take an exam twice, and WebOodi will limit the possibilities to register for exams to two.

More examination dates

The exam days during periods are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 16:15-19:15.

On exam week, exams are held from Monday to Friday three times a day:

  • 8:30-11:30
  • 12:00-16:00 only Language Centre exams
  • 16:15-19:15
  • Four and five hour examinations are only held in the evening: four hour exams at 16:15-20:15 and five hour exams at 15:15-20:15.

    • More exam times, less overlapping of exams and fewer classrooms needed for exams. A possibility to take three exams in one day.

Deadline extended for cancelling exam registrations

The deadline for cancelling your participation in an exam is extended from three working days before the exam to two working days. Cancellations are done in WebOodi. For example, registrations for a Wednesday exam can be cancelled on Monday.
It is very important that you cancel your registration because each registration is considered an exam taken. If you are unable to come to the exam, remember to cancel your registration.

    Language Centre examinations

Language Centre examinations will be listed in the same exam schedule as other examinations.  University-wide policies for late registrations will also apply to Language Centre exams. Students can register for Language Centre examinations after the registration deadline at the Student Affairs Office service desk against a fee.

    • The same rules apply to late registrations for all exams.

    Late registration still possible

Students will still be able to register for exams after the registration deadline:

  • The Student Affairs Office service desk accepts late registrations until the day before the exam against a fee of 5 euros / exam.
  • If there are seats and exam papers available in the exam room, students may leave their name and address with the supervisor of the exam. A fee of 20 euros will be charged after the exam (the fee has been raised to cover risen expenses).
