New examination arrangements for next academic year
Next academic year, four examinations will be arranged for each course (instead of the current three). The regulations on education and the completion of studies will be updated accordingly during this spring, and the new version will enter into force on 1 August 2011.
In the exam schedule currently being planned, the two first exams will be placed close to each other and will serve as alternative exam dates for the student: the first one will be during the exam week after the course is finished (as is currently the case), and the second one the week after that. This allows students more flexibility to complete the exam when the related issues are still fresh in their mind also when exams overlap during the exam week. Naturally, teachers cannot be expected to correct the exam papers during the week between the two first exams.
Students may take part in two exams for one course, and apply to take part in a third one also in the next academic year.
Exams for language and communication studies will be held during the exam week also in the future, at noon between the morning and evening exams.
