The Advanced Surface Technology Research Laboratory (ASTRaL) is a research unit of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) specialising in surface technology, in particular thin film deposition and surface modification.
Our role is to be at the forefront of research in thin film phenomena and their applications. Our expertise in basic and applied research supports the development of leading edge technologies that are essential for industries to develop innovative solutions and value added products. Our aim is also to educate highly skilled professionals at doctoral and Master’s levels who can respond to the industrial challenges of the future.
