FiberLaboratory

FiberLaboratory's operation started at the end of 2005 when the new premises were finished. The premises consist of offices for 25-30 persons, 100 m2 of laboratories and a pilot plant of 600 m2 (height 12 m). Today the laboratory employs 18 staff members (13 from LUT and 5 from YTI).

LUT FiberLaboratory's research team is working cooperatively with the YTI-services research team of Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences, which operates in the same facilities. Lappeenranta University of Technology and Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences are both key research centers in eastern Finland. Our goal is to develop new tecnologies, products and services for the forest industry and represent the best expertise in the field on a global scale.

The goal of the Finnish forest industry to become a leader in the bio-economic sector is also reflected in the operation of FiberLaboratory. In addition to pulp- and paper innovations, FiberLaboratory is also involved in projects relating to the development of forest biorefinery products and entirely new machinery and processes.
