THE RENEWED NORTHERN DIMENSION POLICY
AND THE NEXT STEPS –
focus on Energy Efficiency, Innovations and Logistics
in Lappeenranta, Finland, 31 May – 1 June 2007
Lappeenranta University of Technology and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland organized a seminar on “The Renewed Northern Dimension Policy and the Next Steps” in Lappeenranta, Finland on 31 May – 1 June 2007. The seminar took place in the premises of Lappeenranta University of Technology (address: Skinnarilankatu 34).
The first seminar day provided insights to the perspectives of the renewed Northern Dimension. The keynote speakers included, among others, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, Mr. Paavo Väyrynen, Principal Advisor, Mr. Janos Herman from the European Commission, Deputy Director of the Department of European Cooperation, Mr. Andrey Avetisyan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Secretary General, Mr. Halldór Ásgrímsson from the Nordic Council of Ministers. Topics of the first day covered innovations, energy efficiency and logistics in northern Europe from both academic and company perspectives.
The second seminar day offered viewpoints to environmental challenges, supply chain management and human resources in northern Europe.
The seminar audience consisted of representatives of local and international companies, governmental and administrative bodies as well as research institutes. The seminar gathered together over 220 participants from different countries.
