The Laboratory of Wood Technology of Lappeenranta University of Technology is a top educational and research unit in the wood industry. Areas of emphasis include sawmill technologies and the technology of wood cutting tools, wood processing, wood working techniques and equipment, and wood-based panel technologies and composites.
There are two organisational units under the Laboratory of Wood Technology: a teaching laboratory in Lappeenranta and a pilot plant in Ruokolahti. The Lappeenranta unit is located in the main building of the university. The Ruokolahti unit is situated in Puntala, Ruokolahti.
The Laboratory of Wood Technology is also involved in the activity of the Centre of Expertise Programme and in the international InnovaWood portal.
