Among the objectives of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to boost the Finnish industry, and the Forst Cluster in particular. With this target in mind, the Laboratory of Control Engineering and Digital Systems plays an active role in the research and development of industrial automation. The research activities of the laboratory focus on three areas of emphasis: first, the control of power electronics and electrical drives; second, the preventive condition monitoring and remote diagnostics of electrical machines, and third, the implementation of control algorithms by programmable logic circuits.
The majority of the laboratory's research projects are implemented in collaboration wit other laboratories of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
