Special modelling programs have been developed at LUT in cooperation with HST to simulate the operation of a centrifugal compressor to obtain e.g. control algorithms.
The basic program can be used to produce the performance map of the compressor from the measurement data, and at the same time check the logicality of each measuring point and compare it to calculated data.
Clicking the performance map displays the performance characteristics of the compressor and e.g. the power required at each working point.
Another program can be used to simulate parallel and series-connected compressors by utilizing the performance maps mentioned above. These both programs can be used to examine the performance of any compressor, of which the performance map is known.
The modelling work done at LUT has helped in developing working control algorithms for compressors.
