At the Laboratory of Nuclear Engineering, one of the most important research areas is the thermohydraulics of nuclear power plants. Experimental studies and computer analyses are conducted in cooperation with the Nuclear Safety Research Unit. We also take part in the national SAFIR project (Safety of Nuclear Power Plants – Finnish National Research Programme) together with power companies, the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and the national Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority STUK.
