LUT Laser is a research group of Laboratory of Welding Technology
and Laser Processing and is a part of Lappeenranta Laser Processing
Centre (LPC) which is a joint institute between LUT with VTT
(Technical Research Centre of Finland. The research facilities are
located in the city of Lappeenranta in south-eastern Finland. LUT Laser
has had a significant influence in the early years of laser processing in
Finland, and most of the laser related businesses in Finland today have
some sort of history with LUT Laser.
The work done in laser processing laboratory is mainly research and development work for industrial partners. Our fields of expertise are:
- Laser welding and laser hybrid welding
- Laser surface treatments
- Laser cutting
Beside the laser processing metallic materials, processing of non-metallic materials for example, polymers and fiber based materials have been researched widely.
