Technomathematics and Technical Physics

The Department of Mathematics and Physics is a part of the Faculty of Technology at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT). The department is divided into the Laboratories of Mathematics and Physics.

In addition to coordinating a Master’s Programme, the Department of Mathematics and Physics provides the university’s students of technology with basic skills in the field of mathematics and physics.
Research areas in the field of technomathematics include modelling industrial and environmental processes, fuzzy systems, and developing instruction in mathematics and physics. Research at the Laboratory of Physics focuses on optical measurement technologies and materials physics.

If you are interested in studying in our Master's program, more information can be found here:

The following language tests are accepted for MS in Technomathematics & Physics Programme: TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, and Cambridge Certificate in English (FCE, CAE or CPE). Students should find out test possibilities in their home country. For a local test possibility in Lappeenranta see IELTS off-site testing possibility at LUT in February 2011. Another test possibility will be offered at LUT in April. For additional information about language test requirement contact  admissions@lut.fi.

CEID

The Centre of Computational Engineering and Integrated Design (CEID) is a research institute that supports the LUT strategy on “scientific computing and modeling of industrial processes”, which is one of the four strategic research areas of the university. The mission of CEID is to perform high-level research on computational engineering and integrated design, to enhance cooperation between LUT laboratories and research groups and their networking with national and international research groups. CEID also assists in the education of computational sciences. Further information: www.lut.fi/ceid.
