Optical Measurement Technologies
Basic research areas include e.g. colour theory, dispersion theory and analysis of optical measurement data. Applied research is carried out especially on the measurement of paper surface properties (topography, roughness and porosity) and industrial applications of colour measurements. Current research topics include:
1. Optical measurement technologies
Fast real time technology for measuring the surface topography of paper,
Measuring the optical properties of nanoparticles using surface plasmon resonance measurement.
2. Nonlinear optics
Laser microscopy computation methods related to transparent (”invisible”) objects (e.g. biological samples).
3. Colour research
Colour measurement on fluorescent surfaces
4. New optical materials
Optical properties of nanocomposites
