Renewable energy systems

Finding sustainable, global solutions for energy production and consumption is becoming an increasingly important challenge for humankind. To solve the problem, different technologies and methods must be studied extensively. The faculty carries out top European research within the key areas of energy studies.

The core of our research consists of research and development projects involving renewable energy systems, including studies on energy production, energy networks and markets, and challenges in energy consumption. Research topics deal with bioenergy and renewable energy sources, nuclear power, non-polluting energy production technologies and distribution of energy. LUT is the most important research and education institute in the energy sector, with approx. 160 employees specialised in the area.
