Process Intensification

Process intensification means comprehensive production development that promotes efficient and sustainable development. This is a central research area in chemical technology and aims e.g. to conserve energy and to limit emissions.
Lappeenranta University of Technology is the leading developer of process intensification in Finland.  A particularly important area of application are multiphase reactors developed for industry. LUT can be considered to have introduced microprocess technology to Finland. Microprocess technology is an extreme form of process intensification.
