LUT’s separation technology laboratories compose the Centre for Separation Technology (CST), which studies separation, purification and recycling technologies in the chemical industry, pulp and paper industry, food and pharmaceutical industry and hydrometallurgic industry. The key research areas are different separation methods, such as adsorption, crystallisation, solid-liquid separation, chromatographic separation, extraction and membrane technology. In addition, the centre’s research concentrates on the treatment of polluted air and water treatment methods, such as wet oxidation and gas-liquid reactors in the biological treatment of water. The strengths of the Centre for Separation Technology are long-standing traditions in publishing scientific studies, a comprehensive range of analysers and research equipment, and extensive networking with Finnish and international research institutes.
