PERSONAL STUDY PLAN (PSP)
Personal Study Plan PSP is a tool that helps you to plan the timing and amount of the studies. The PSP will be done during the first weeks of studying with guidance from tutors and study secretary, and it is important to keep the PSP up to date later when studies progress.

MASTER'S THESIS
LUT's general Instructions for a Master's thesis includes the instructions from starting the work, the layout, publicity, until to assessment of the thesis. The department of Information Technology has in addition a template for the thesis (docx, 208 kb).

Differences in the preparation of thesis and assignments
MATURITY EXAM
From 1.10.2009 on at the department of Information Technology the maturity exam is no longer required in writing. The exam is given at the master's thesis presentation, and the presentation should show the student's good command of the topic. The public presentation on the thesis should be given before the assessment of the thesis (please see the timetable under "graduation"). To reserve a time for the presentation, please send an e-mail including your name, major subject, topic of the thesis and wished presentation time to tarja.nikkinen(a)lut.fi. The presentation times can be found at the address: seminars.

HELPDESK - your help in IT problems
Through help desk service students participating courses of the Department of Information Technology can acquire guidance in small problems they might encounter. Such problems could be for example: How to define java classpath in tcsh? How to use USB-memory in Linux? Where can one find a C-compiler in Windows? What is wrong with my application? etc. Please do not hesitate to drop in!
