The GEN4FIN Finnish Seminar on Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems is organized on 30 September – 1 October 2010 at Lappeenranta University of Technology. It is in order the third GEN4FIN seminar held in Lappeenranta. The previous seminars were in 2006 and 2008. The seminar gathers around researchers, postgraduate students and people working in the nuclear industry and the regulators in Finland and also from the Nordic Generation IV research network. The seminar covers a wide range of Generation IV technologies with general presentations on reactor concepts and research efforts and more detailed technical presentations with research results.
Presentations on the first day are given by invited lecturers from Finland and abroad. The second day consists of presentations given by students and researchers working on various Generation IV topics. A visit to the thermal hydraulic test facilities at LUT will be organized for the afternoon on 30 September. There will also be evening program with dinner and sauna at the Lake Saimaa near the university.
The seminar will be held in the Auditorium 103 at the student union building, which is near to the main entrance of the University. See the following link for a map. Registration and all submissions should be sent to heikki.suikkanen@lut.fi. To register, provide your contact information with name, email address, and organization. There will be a registration fee of 100€ (full)/50€ (student) for the seminar. More info about the registration fee will be given later. The fee includes lunch and coffee on both days, the dinner on 30 September, and the printed seminar materials.
For Finnish postgraduate students, there is a possibility for 3 (web exam) or 5 (web exam + presentation) ECTS credits.
