Usama Awan is Assistant professor (CUI) and researcher at LUT Finland. Usama Awan holds a PhD in industrial engineering and management with distinction from the Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT. I worked as a postdoc research fellow at Palumbo Donahue School of Business, Duquesne University, USA, from March 2021 to March 2022. I have also been attached as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Commerce, Mount Allison University Canada, from May 2021 to December 2021. I have worked as a senior researcher at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), Finland. I have been visiting Lecturer at LAB University of Applied Sciences and a research fellow (2020-2021).In addition to this, I have given guest lectures at Turku School of Economics and Guest lecturers (Service Design Experience), Norwegian School of Hotel Management (NHS), and The University of Stavanger, Norway.
I received my Ph.D. degree with distinction in Sustainability Management in 2019 from LUT School of Business and Management, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), Finland. I hold M.Sc (business administration) from Malardalen University, Sweden, and MBA (2002) from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan. In addition to this, Regarding teaching qualifications, I have obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Professional and higher education teaching practices (ETCS 60) from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki, Finland. Before my Ph.D., I served in COMSATS University(www.comsats.edu.pk), Islamabad in the Department of Management Sciences, as Assistant Professor of industrial marketing from December 2010 to Feb 2016. I have taught various courses to undergraduates and postgraduate levels, such as operations management, business to business marketing, and global marketing. I have supervised BBA and MBA projects. I have also been actively involved in administrative activities at the University. After my MBA in 2002, I worked in a middle-level managerial position in NADRA( www.nadra.gov.pk) (information technology firm) from July 2003 to December as an operations manager. However, I would be happy to teach other core modules as per the needs of the Business School, especially in business-to-business marketing, global sustainable operations management, innovation, and sustainable strategy.I have published an impressive number of peer-reviewed articles in top-tier International journals within a short period, such as the British Journal of Management ( ABS4), Technology Forecasting and Social change (ABS3), Business Strategy and Environment (ABS3), Journal of Cleaner Production (ABS2). I have More than 22 Web of Science, 5 x ABS2, 7 x ABS 3* and ABS 4).indexed journal articles purely in the field of manufacturing agility, Environmental investment, Green innovation, Sustainability transitions, and Paradoxes tensions in corporate sustainability, and sustainability in business models. My Ph.D. research focused on when and how to export manufacturers could benefit from integrating cultural intelligence in partnerships and alliances in cross-border relationship management to achieve economic and social sustainability objectives.My research explores how organizations develop internal capabilities and use external resources for the co-creation of green products and services, integrate sustainability in the circular economy, and understand the dynamics of big data analytics digital transformation in engineering manufacturing firms. In addition, my research conceptualizes a Multi-level Perspective (MLP) in building links between natural resource economics and technology development to support corporate sustainability and the ensuing sustainable innovation pathways. Currently, my research focuses on renewing production and supply chain strategy in business models for sustainability in a broader spectrum of how new forms of collaboration and partnership evolve in additive manufacturing and virtual reality environment in the interaction of human-automation involvement (Industry 5.0 environment). My future research plans focus on how firms incorporate sustainability in the transition of their business models, such as the digital twin environment and additive manufacturing. They choose their supply partners and develop alternative partnerships and distribution channels to address SDGs 9 and 11.I have worked as a co-investigator in terms of research funding and won a grant from the Research Center (TRC), Oman, and obtained 44,000 EU project funding as a principal investigator from the Research foundation council Finland. The diverse and robust publishing history reflects my scientific creativity and productivity in business model innovation, big data analytics, digitalization strategy for business transformation, and big data analytics strategy.I have good working experience in several statistical programs such as SPSS, PLS-SEM, and AMOS, the average user of agent-based modeling(ABM), and MCDM( Fuzzy-AHP, ISM, and TOPSIS). I have actively performed different administrative duties at LUT University and my home country institution, such as teaching assistant, conference organizer, coordinator for the poster sessions
