All international LUT Summer School students will be provided a furnished single room in shared apartments (2-3 rooms per apartment, shared bathroom/shower and kitchen) in the Lappeenranta Student Housing Foundation LOAS. The residences are within easy walking distance of the university. NOTE: We do not provide LUT students with apartments!
A furnished apartment includes:
- In the kitchen – a table, benches, refrigerator, oven.
- In the study room - a desk, office chair, bookcase, desk lamp, bed with a mattress (80x200 cm), linen (a bottom sheet, a duvet cover, a pillowcase), and a bath towel.
Unfortunately, there are no blankets/pillows nor kitchen utensils (no pots, pans, dishes, or cutlery) in the rooms.
You can find a "Buy&Sell in Lappeenranta" Facebook group for used items (https://www.facebook.com/groups/138086963027342/), or you can buy from local hypermarkets.
If you prefer to stay somewhere else during the LUT Summer School, you must arrange the accommodation yourself.
There are saunas at your buildings. You can also use Vierula Sauna by the lake Saimaa on Tuesdays 16 – 19 (girls), 19 – 22 (boys).
There is a laundry room at your disposal free of charge. Follow the laundry room's instructions.
Always use the metal sheet when you cook something in the oven. Keep the oven clean. Metal sheets are provided in the apartment.
Getting around in Lappeenranta
You can use city bus lines 1 and 5 to get around. The distance from LUT campus to downtown Lappeenranta is approximately 7 kilometers.
One bus ticket costs 3,20 € / 1 hour ticket (allows bus change and return trip), after 17:30 and on the weekends (Sat/Sun) – 2,50 € / 1 hour ticket (allows bus change and return trip).

The summer school participation fee includes lunch at the university cafeteria. The lunch includes the main course, beverages, bread, side salad and a coffee. Additionally, it is possible to have breakfast and buy snacks and beverages at the cafeteria. NOTE, LUT students pays for the lunch themselves.
The opening hours of the university cafeteria are 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. A snack costs approximately EUR 2, coffee or tea approximately EUR 1. In addition, there are basic cooking facilities in residences.
Supermarkets are open 7 – 21/Saturdays 7 – 20/Sundays 11 – 20.
There are pizza & kebab restaurants close to your accommodation (Selam, Skinnarilankatu 1; Pizza Rakuuna, Hietakallionkatu 2; Susan Pizza, Sammontori 2). More restaurants are located in downtown. Learn more during the city tour.
