Environmental Policy of Lappeenranta University of Technology

Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) is a part of the university's ISO 14001 environmental management system, which is currently being prepared. The environmental policy was approved and signed on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013.

We at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) assume environmental responsibility for all of our actions: scientific research, academic education, societal interaction and support services.

Our way of thinking and operating is embodied in our Green Campus, where we conduct cross-disciplinary research and education innovatively to reduce our environmental load. We invest in research that promotes the well-being of the environment and support sustainable development globally, nationally and regionally by educating academic experts and decision-makers with a high level of environmental awareness.

Our environmental goals focus primarily on our own operations, but take into consideration operations which we can effect indirectly from the viewpoint of environmental impacts. We will monitor, measure and regularly review the development of our environmental protection and reserve sufficient resources to ensure continuous improvement. With open interaction, we will ensure that the views of our stakeholders and changes in the operating environment of the university are taken into account.

We will fulfil the requirements set by legislation and authorities and develop our environmental activity in accordance with our commitments.
