Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) is committed to recognising its environmental responsibility in all of its operations and to utilising its cross-disciplinary research and teaching to reduce its environmental load.
Within LUT, taking environmental issues into account and managing them are part of the organisation's management activities which are supported by the university's environmental management system which meets the 14001 standard. LUT is the only university in Finland to have a 14001 compliant system. The system covers all of the university's activities: teaching, research, interaction with the wider community and support operations.
The environmental policy, which is recorded in the system, commits the organisation to maintain and develop its management of environmental issues and the knowledge of its staff in environmental issues. The environmental policy summarises what we are committed to in our operations.
The Green Campus operating model is a concrete example of the university's environmental activities through which the university promotes environmental well-being through its research and education.
