LUT among the top 501-600 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE)
LUT's ranking is the same as last year. The number of universities on the list increased from 1258 to 1396.
THE is one of the world's most highly regarded university ranking lists. The areas assessed are research, citations, teaching, international outlook, and industry income. The ranking is based on 13 indicators.
Improved scores in all areas
LUT was included in the THE ranking for the sixth time and improved its results in all of the assessed areas. Development was particularly positive in the number of citations. In four areas out of five, LUT's result surpasses the median score of universities in the ranking.
LUT's special strength is still industry collaboration. Based on the amount of industry income, LUT was ranked within the world's top 25 per cent. LUT's research reputation was also among the improved indicators.
"The global competition between universities is becoming more intense, as particularly the Asian universities are improving their level and rankings. Maintaining our previous ranking is a good result, and the improved scores tell us that we're on the right track," says Jari Hämäläinen, LUT's Vice Rector for Research.
As in the previous year, nine Finnish universities were ranked on the list.
