The Nordic Filtration Society
The Nordic Filtration Society is a Chapter of the Filtration Society. The basic objective for the Nordic Chapter is to arrange Nordic Filtration Symposia and thus to offer a forum where to discuss "Nordic" solid/fluid separation problems, to establish a Nordic filtration information network and to stimulate contacts between Nordic industries, research institutes and universities.
Topicalities
16th Nordic Filtration Symposium "Filtration for a Circular Economy" will be held in 24 -26 August, 2016 in Finland.
History and background
The Nordic Filtration Society is a Chapter of the Filtration Society and it was founded in Gothenburg on August 1, 1995 in connection with the 1st Nordic Filtration Symposium. The inaugural meeting was supervised by the "godfathers" Cyril Smith (Chairman of the Filtration Society, UK) and Dr. Albert Rushton.
Like the Filtration Society itself (formed in London 1964) NoFS will be involved in all kinds of techniques used to remove contaminants and products from either a gas or a liquid.
Some examples:
- Industrial gas cleaning
- Water purification
- Vacuum and pressure filtration
- Filter media
- Membrane filtration
- Settlers
- Cyclones
- Centrifuges
- Scrubbers
The Filtration Society arranges seminars, symposia, and conferences and informs on all kinds of continuing development work. If you want to join the Filtration Society and the Nordic Filtration Society, you will have a cost effective way of keeping up to date with the developments in separation technology. As a further benefit you will receive the outstanding journal "Filtration" incorporating the transactions with refereed scientific papers. Application forms and other details can be found on the homepage of the Filtration Society Please mark that you would like to belong to the Nordic Chapter of the Filtration Society, NoFS.
