Biography

Prof. Amit Bhatnagar (Highly Cited Researcher by Web of Science, 2018 - 2022) is a Full Professor (water treatment), at LUT University, Finland since August 2020. Earlier, he had worked as Full Professor (April 2019 - July 2020), Associate Professor (Sept. 2017 - March 2019) and Assistant Professor (Sept. 2014 - Aug. 2017) at the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. He has >15 years of research experience in the field of water remediation technologies and solid waste management. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, India in 2003. He has worked in various international universities/institutes such as Linnaeus University, Sweden; University of Porto, Portugal; Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), Germany; University of Kuopio, Finland; Yonsei University, South Korea; Central Building Research Institute (CBRI)/CSIR, India; Swiss Federal Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (EAWAG), Switzerland. Prof. Bhatnagar is the recipient of many reputed international fellowships including Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (CEAC) World Laboratory Wilhelm Simon Fellowship; Brain Korea-21 (BK-21); Marie-Curie More Experienced Researcher; Erasmus Mundus visiting fellowship; postdoc fellowship from Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. His research background is in the field of water and wastewater remediation technologies. His current research focuses on application of microalgae for wastewater treatment, carbon capture, recovery of value-added products and synthesis and use of biomaterials (e.g. cellulose and biochar) and nano-composites for (waste)water treatment. He has published > 280 research/review peer-reviewed articles in SCI/SCIE journals. His current H-index is 78 with >23,700 citations (Scopus). He has authored five book chapters in the books published by IWA, Elsevier, John-Wiley, Springer and Bentham publishers. He has also edited an e-book entitled “Application of Adsorbents for Water Pollution Control”. Prof. Bhatnagar currently serves as Editor of Environmental Pollution (Elsevier), and Associate Editor of Critical Reviews in Environmental Science and Technology. He is Editorial Board Member of ACS Chem & Bio Engineering, Environmental Technology & Innovation (Elsevier), Water Resources and Industry (Elsevier), Carbon Resources Conversion (Elsevier), Biochar (Springer), Carbon Research (Springer), Journal of Nanostructure in Chemistry (Springer), and PLOS One. He has also served as Guest Editor of Special Issues in Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Bioresource Technology etc.
