Samuel Emebu
Biography
I’m Dr. Samuel Emebu (PhD.), and I am currently a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Department of Separation Science at LUT University in Finland. I hold a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria (2007–2012), an MSc. in Chemical Engineering from NTNU in Trondheim, Norway (2016–2018), and a PhD. in Engineering Informatics from Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic (2020–2023). Prior to my position in Finland, I spent over five years as a Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Benin with practical experience in equipment quality control within the oil, gas, environmental and agrochemical industries.
In general, I have more than ten (10) years of research experience with speciality in mathematical modelling, simulation, optimization, control, process design and techno-economic sustainable energy systems via experimental analysis, as well as computational tools like MATLAB, Python Jupyter Notebook, Aspen PLUS, Aspen HYSYS, and COMSOL with several unique benefits on:
1. Steady and dynamic state simulation of Power-to-X (P2X) technologies, enhancing operational efficiencies and event-based process control via continuous-flow Micromeritics laboratory reactors to optimize the production of renewable fuels (e.g., methanol and biodiesel).
2. Optimization of multivariable systems and unit operations, spanning renewable methanol plants and horizontal gravity separators
3. Process design, costing and Techno-economic evaluations (TEA) to translate micro- or pilot-scale innovations into full-scale commercial of chemical engineering, and energy systems.
Currently my interest is on energy (fossil and renewable), especially through waste valorisation (e.g., Anaerobic digestion to biogas, plastic waste to liquid and gaseous fuel) and conversion of gaseous fuel and/or biogas into other convectional biofuel such as renewable kerosene, diesel, etc. via the Power-to-X technological processes.
