TETHICS 2026 calls for papers from computing sciences, software engineering, social sciences, philosophy, and related fields that present scientific contributions on technology ethics, with a particular focus on ethical responsibility, societal impact, and sustainability in software-intensive systems.
The theme of TETHICS 2026 is “Making Digital Society Work: Ethics, Software, and Responsibility”. In line with this theme, TETHICS 2026 particularly welcomes work that critically examines ethical tensions, trade-offs, and responsibilities in contemporary and emerging technologies, including perspectives related to software for society, responsible digitalization, and sustainable socio-technical systems.
At the same time, submissions addressing the broader scope of technology ethics, in line with the TETHICS conference series, are warmly welcomed.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Data ethics and AI ethics
- Ethics of software engineering and software development
- Ethical design and responsible innovation of software engineering and technology
- Sustainability, Green ICT, and environmental ethics in software engineering and technology
- Societal impacts of digitalization, automation, and AI
- Ethics of algorithmic decision-making and AI-mediated work
- Technology ethics in specific application domains (e.g., education, healthcare, public sector, industry, defense)
- Governance, regulation, and policy related to software technologies
- Business ethics in the software industry
- Teaching and learning technology ethics
- Philosophical foundations of technology ethics
- Responsible computing and software for society
- Technologically mediated communication and ethics
We encourage submissions from different disciplinary backgrounds, including computing, social sciences, philosophy, humanities, and interdisciplinary research. Both conceptual and empirical contributions are welcome.
To support early-career researchers, TETHICS 2026 explicitly encourages submissions from PhD students and undergraduate students.
Poster session
A poster session will be organized, providing an opportunity for students and early-career researchers to present research plans, early-stage work, and tentative findings.
If you wish to participate only in the poster session without submitting a paper, please contact the General Chair directly.
