emma 2026 is organized at LUT University’s Lappeenranta campus, which is located on the south shore of Lake Saimaa, in the district of Skinnarila.
We will provide transportation from the city center to the campus for conference participants in the morning and after the programme ends at the campus. Welcome reception and all conference dinners are organized in the city center area.

Among the hotels in the Lappeenranta area, those with the most convenient access to the conference venue are located in the city center.
The distance from Lappeenranta railway station to the city center is about one kilometer and the campus is located approximately 7 km of the city center. There are good bus connections from the city center to the campus (see "Arrival" on this page). In addition, we will provide transportation from the city center to the campus for conference participants in the morning and after the programme ends at the campus. Welcome reception and all conference dinners are organized in the city center area.
We have negotiated special rates for conference participants with some local hotels. More details can be found below. Please note that there may be a limited number of discounted rooms available at each hotel.
Considering the transportation available from city center to the campus, as well as the locations of the dinner venues and the railway station, we recommend staying in the city center. There are no hotels in the campus area, although you may find some Airbnb options.
The city of Lappeenranta
Lappeenranta is located about 220 km northeast of Helsinki, by lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland, and the fourth largest in Europe.
Lappeenranta has twice been chosen as the climate capital of Finland. It is also one of the greenest cities in Europe and won the European Green Leaf Award in 2021.
