Lappeenranta is located just 220 km northeast of Helsinki, by Lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland and the fourth largest in Europe.
Lappeenranta has twice been named the climate capital of Finland. It is also one of the greenest cities in Europe and won the European Green Leaf Award in 2021.
