CST - a pioneer in separation technology

The Centre for Separation Technology (CST) at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) is a cooperative institution founded in 1997. It integrates the expertise in separation technologies of several laboratories operating under LUT School of Engineering Science.

The research within CST is genuinely multi-disciplinary, and applications of the separation technologies studied at CST can be found widely in various industries. Our knowledge in separation processes is based on a deep understanding of the related physical and chemical phenomena and mastery of the modern methodology of chemical and process engineering.

CST's role

  • The expertise in our research groups is based on an understanding of separation phenomena. The objective is to deepen this understanding of separation phenomena, to renew our expertise and transfer it to existing and novel applications.
  • CST's expertise will also be enhanced through partnerships and networking.
  • CST will transfer its expertise through of scientific publications, industrial R&D, training and media.
  • Scientific rigour will be the leading guideline in all research activities.
