Biography

Abdulbagi Hassan is a Junior Researcher and Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at LUT University, Finland. With a strong background in mineral processing and a passion for sustainable technologies, Abdulbagi is dedicated to advancing greener, more efficient methods for metal recovery and recycling.

He holds a Master's degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, during which he gained extensive practical experience in hydrometallurgical processes, including the selective recovery of precious and critical metals. During his master’s studies, he also worked on green extraction methods for precious metals like gold and mercury from low-impact leaching solutions, reinforcing his commitment to environmentally friendly approaches. Abdulbagi has accumulated over four years of experience across both academia and the mining industry. His work spans a wide range of topics within hydrometallurgy and materials engineering, with a particular focus on the recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries and the recovery of critical raw materials.

At LUT University, his research explores innovative approaches to metal separation using selective leaching, solvent extraction (SX), and ion exchange (IX) techniques. He applies strong research and development (R&D) skills to help bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial implementation.

He is multilingual—fluent in English, Arabic, and Turkish—and values cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge exchange.

He is passionate about contributing to a circular economy and envisions a future where resource recovery is not only efficient but also environmentally responsible.
