The second application round of Finnish universities ended on Tuesday 24 March 2026. LUT University offered 604 places in its Finnish-language bachelor's programmes and attracted 5,546 applicants. The application round included 11 bachelor’s programmes arranged on the university’s Lappeenranta campus.
Overall, the number of applicants to LUT increased slightly compared to last year. In addition, the social sciences programme, now offered for the fourth time, continued to grow in popularity. The programme received nearly 100 more applications than last year.
”We are delighted by the strong interest in our programmes in engineering, business, and social and communication sciences. LUT’s outstanding student atmosphere and our long-term commitment to strategy-led degree programmes clearly continue to appeal to applicants year after year,” says Provost Mari Kallioinen-Mänttäri.
LUT University’s student admissions in technology and business follow the national joint admission process in their fields. Programmes with joint admission have the same admission criteria.
Technology programmes fill 80 per cent and business, social sciences, and communication sciences programmes 60 per cent of their available places through certificate-based admission or admission based on prior academic records.
Entrance examinations are for applicants who were not admitted based on their certificates. Applicants who are admitted to a secondary programme option based on their academic record may still pursue a place in their preferred programme by taking an entrance examination.
All students admitted to bachelor's programmes are automatically entitled to continue their studies in master's programmes in technology, business, and social sciences.
