LUT University offers its new master's and doctoral graduates the opportunity to continue studying and further develop their expertise after graduation through a designated course selection. The alumni continuous learning benefit entered into force on 1 August 2026.
Registration is free for two academic years after graduation, and the learning benefit is available to all alumni who have graduated with a master's or doctoral degree from LUT University after 1 August 2025. Alumni may complete up to 30 ECTS credits when the benefit is active.
The opportunity supports graduates as they move from student life into the professional world – a stage where completing a degree is by no means the end of learning. The learning benefit helps graduates keep their skills and knowledge up to date even after entering the workforce.
“The alumni continuous learning benefit makes professional development easily accessible”
Anni Kesäniemi is an Industrial engineering and management alumna who graduated with a Master of Science in Technology degree in November 2025. Studies at LUT have provided her with the foundation for continuous learning in the professional world and inspired her to keep developing her expertise.
Kesäniemi was already working in technology consulting during her master's studies and has continued in the same field after graduation. In her experience, continuously developing one’s skills is essential for professional growth and for keeping pace with a rapidly changing world.
“I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning new things, so I think it’s fantastic that recent graduates have the opportunity to continue learning in an academic environment even after graduation. The alumni continuous learning benefit makes professional development easily accessible, especially at the stage when your professional interests begin to take shape in the working world,” says Kesäniemi.
She has already reviewed the alumni course selection and identified several topics and courses that interest her.
“I would like to further develop my expertise through courses in business studies and information technology. I’m particularly interested in AI-related courses, like the open university’s course called AI-Supported Creative Problem Solving, as well as the Working Capital Management of Value Chains course offered by the industrial engineering and management degree programme,” Kesäniemi says.
