A combination of strategic finance and business analytics is required to meet the needs of forward-going businesses wanting to make fact-based decisions in a competitive business landscape.

In this Master's programme, you will study strategic finance and business analytics. You will acquire interesting and relevant skills enabling you to work in various management positions in an international business environment.

The Master's Programme in Strategic Finance and Analytics is delivered in blended mode, which means that the programme combines on-campus and independent online studies. Many of the obligatory core studies require participation in contact teaching in Lappeenranta in the form of lectures, exercises, or assignments. Some of the courses can be completed remotely. Individual course descriptions mention the attendance requirements for the course. Students admitted to the programme should prepare to attend classes on campus when needed.

What will you learn in the programme? 

After completing the programme, you will be familiar with the main theories and concepts of finance and international financial markets. You will become a fact-driven finance professional who understands business processes, analytics, management, and strategies in a global financial environment.

You will acquire:

  • competence in business analytics, including skills to choose the correct and relevant tools and techniques for solving business problems; you will be a competent finance professional who can analyse theories and methods in your professional field and apply knowledge in a real-world context using real-world data;
  • knowledge of how to apply business research and systematically analyse research problems related to your discipline; you will learn how to produce an academic research report according to the principles of good scientific conduct, which will enable you to continue your studies at the doctoral level;  
  • skills for critically evaluating the consequences of business decisions from a responsibility perspective;
  • a professional network by working with your peers during your studies and by networking with industry representatives during guest lectures; you will likely write your final thesis on a topic of empirical analysis for a business organisation.

The Master's Programme in Strategic Finance and Analytics is a two-year programme. It leads to the degree of Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, M. Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.), which is 120 ECTS credits.
