Welcome to the LUT Alumni Afterwork event in Lappeenranta!
The welcome words will be given by Olli Pyrhönen, the Dean of LUT School of Energy Systems. In addition to networking, afterwork event will always provide an opportunity to update your knowledge. This time the theme is research, the new entrepreneurial research platforms of LUT.
A brief 15 minute presentation at the start of the afterwork event will be given by our research director Kirsi Pulkkinen.
Kirsi will explain us how LUT University’s networked research platforms are designed to tackle the world’s toughest challenges. Through the platforms, LUT fosters collaboration and networking with external partners in academia, industry, and the public sector. Going forward, the research platforms will increasingly serve as a gateway for organisations seeking to collaborate with researchers. Kirsi herself is the research director for two strategic research platforms, Digital Revolution and Business & Society.
The afterwork event will be held in early December, on Tuesday, 1 December, from 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM at Rakuunamäen Juhlatila. (Mannerheiminkatu 10, Lappeenranta) Already getting into the pre-Christmas party spirit.

LUT Alumni Afterwork events are relaxed and free networking opportunities for all our alumni, regardless of their degree program. We organize these events in different cities across Finland where our alumni are located.
Program:
- 5:00 PM Arrival at the Rakuunmäen Juhlatila and welcome drinks
- 5:15 PM Welcome words, Olli Pyrhönen
- 5:20 PM Presentation on Entrepreneurial research platforms, Kirsi Pulkkinen
The new research platforms bring together expertise from across the three LUT schools – Energy Systems, Engineering Sciences, and Business School – enabling genuinely interdisciplinary approaches to complex sustainability challenges.
- 5:45 PM Free socializing and networking with drinks and light snacks
The presentations are in English, and otherwise the event is bilingual.
