Welcome to the LUT Alumni Afterwork event in Lappeenranta!
The welcome speech will be given by Pasi Vainikka, the new Industry Professor at LUT University. Our energy technology alumnus will share his thoughts on the connection between technology and business, as well as his goals in this new role.

In addition to networking, afterwork event will always provide an opportunity to update your knowledge. This time with the latest research news from LUT Industrial Engineering and Management. Our topic is AI in Project Management presented us by Post-doctoral researcher Minnu Joseph. You will gain insights into how artificial intelligence supports smarter scheduling, risk anticipation, and team collaboration. We will review some practical examples that you can apply to your own work.
The afterwork event will be held on Tuesday, 2 December, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in Linnoituksen Krouvi. (Vesiportinkuja 5, Lappeenranta) The evening before the big DuuniDay event at the Lappeenranta campus.
LUT Alumni Afterwork events are relaxed and free networking opportunities for all our alumni, regardless of their degree program. We organize these events in different cities across Finland where our alumni are located.

Speakers:
Pasi Vainikka
Vainikka had a long, distinguished career at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. From VTT, he moved on to become a high-growth entrepreneur and established Solar Foods with his fellow researchers in 2017. Vainikka was the company's CEO for several years and turned it into a thriving international technology enterprise. Last year, he was selected as the first recipient of LUT’s Curious Alumni Award.
Minnu Joseph
A Post-Doctoral Researcher at LUT University, contributing to research and teaching in Industrial Engineering and Management. Her work involves authoring and co-authoring academic papers, mentoring master’s and bachelor’s students in their thesis projects, and delivering lectures in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, with a particular emphasis on Power BI and business intelligence tools.
