Circular economy advancing additive manufacturing (KIERTO-AM)

In order to solve wicked global problems such as climate change, depletion of natural resources and environmental pollution, there is a need to develop and manufacture more ecological products that use fewer natural resources and generate less carbon emissions (e.g. lighter components). In addition, there is a need to implement products that can save energy, water and materials (e.g. nozzles and other equipment components to reduce water or electricity consumption, filters that allow more accurate separation of substances).

Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is often the only way to implement the above-mentioned products. Additive manufacturing is a relatively new manufacturing technology that allows for more freedom than traditional manufacturing methods (e.g. more complex designs, and material only where it is needed).
